Q:

How to get a list of all hosts that need to be restarted to reboot a Hyper-V virtual machine

I’m running Windows 7 (x64) and I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V host.
I’ve got a hypervisor and several VM’s on this host and I want to reboot them all, one by one. The list of VM’s is about 300 and the list of Hyper-V hosts is about 50. When I select the host from the list and I try to restart it, Windows 7 tries to restart the whole host, not just the VM I’m using.
Is there a way to restart only a subset of host’s?

A:

Select the Virtual Machine, then right click and select “Script New Image”. This will initiate a Script File that you can use to reboot the VM.
